Selby Gildemacher is a conceptual artist and lecturer. His work uses art through intervention and education to deal with complex issues of modern society, often shifting quickly between irony and urgency. For example, his recent project #DORITOS4SNOWDEN looks at the connection between the surveillance state and junk food.
Gildemacher is a principle at PIEK! art agency, a member of Hackers & Designers (a cross-disciplinary community of programmers, engineers, designers, and artists) and is an active contributor to the One Minute Foundation (a global network devoted to moving image that has produced and distributed more than 10,000 video works by artists from more than 120 countries).
