Ilana Altman is a designer, curator and editor based in Toronto with a background in art and architecture. Ilana has worked for number of notable international design firms including Studio Daniel Libeskind and Diller Scofidio + Renfro in New York and KPMB Architects in Toronto.
In 2015 Ilana founded The Artful City, a multi-faceted collaborative initiative that aims to advance public art research as a tool for engagement, foster vital public art practices and influence policies supporting healthy and imaginative cities. The Artful City engages multiple communities - from students, to artists, developers, and architects - to sustain a dialogue around the role of public art in promoting equity and inclusion across Toronto's communities. It is a convening force that catalyzes groups and practitioners to collaborate and take action.
Additionally, Ilana serves as the Executive Director of the Pavilion Project, a non-profit organization committed to advancing the culture of architecture and activating local communities through construction of experimental temporary structures.
